1 in 5 people in the UK have a lung disease, with someone being diagnosed every minute. Due to coronavirus, more people than ever before know what it's like to be breathless. People who have had Covid are finding themselves in need of the support and advice that's proved so vital for the millions of people that already have a lung condition in the UK. By joining Take Steps this September and encouraging others to join you, you can help us to be there for every one of them.

FAQs

How can I stay safe on my walk (Covid-19)?

Your safety is our top priority during these times. Please check out our Covid-19 FAQs for more information before getting started.

How do I take part?

It's simple! Register your place and set up your fundraising page. You can link your Strava or Fitbit to your account or manually log your walking distance. You can share your progress easily with friends and family when asking for donations, and you can also invite others to join your team and combine your fundraising to push you to the top of the leaderboard!

When is the Take Steps challenge?

The challenge will officially run from 1 September to 30 September, but you can start fundraising straight away. The more steps you take and the more money your team raises, the bigger difference you'll be making to the lives of people with lung disease.

Our work is vital. During the pandemic we've seen record numbers of people come to us for advice and help. Calls to our Helpline nurses tripled. We were a lifeline for vulnerable people. But we need your support to help us continue to support those in need of our services.

The British Lung Foundation is the only charity looking after the millions of people in the UK with a lung condition, and the millions more at risk.

We give people hope through our research, looking for new treatments and cures. We campaign for better diagnosis, treatments and prevention and lobby the government to make lung health a priority. And we offer essential support through our Helpline and support groups. For further information, please visit www.blf.org.uk.
